Junius Spencer Morgan estate papers, 1885-1957 (bulk 1890-1911).

This collection contains materials related to the settlement of the estate of Junius Spencer Morgan after his death in April 1890. It includes account books, contracts, correspondence, probate records, estate inventories, invoices and receipts, leases, property valuations, securities lists, and a probate copy of JSM's will. In particular, items in this collection document the financial and administrative aspects of maintaining two of Morgan's estates: Dover House in Roehampton, England and Villa Henrietta in Monte Carlo. The collection also documents the important role John Pierpont Morgan played in the settlement of his father's estate. Records from the period following Junius Spencer Morgan's death include invoices and receipts for purchases made or services rendered to John Pierpont Morgan and his family, such as receipts for clothing, food and wine, books and manuscripts, magazine subscriptions, luggage, travel, home furnishings and repairs to Dover House and Princes Gate. These records also include the legal papers of the trustees that document the financial arrangements made for John Pierpont Morgan, his sisters, and their descendents.
